I got a chance to visit Macau for the 2nd time, this time with my friends. We only stayed overnight and will be travelling to Hong Kong the next day.
We choose to stay at Holiday Inn Sands Hotel in Cotai, Macau. I choose this hotel for several reasons, first because I am a member of the hotel’s loyalty club called IHG reward, second the rates are very reasonable and lastly, it is situated near the well known hotels like Parisian Hotel (where my family and I stayed during out last visit) and Venetian hotel.
How to get there from Macau Airport:
Most of the hotels in Macau specially in Cotai has shuttle service for their guests. So from Macau International airport you just need to go to the shuttle service parking and look for the shuttle service. The shuttle service runs from 10am up to 10:30pm. Unfortunately for us, our flight was delayed for more than one hour so we missed the shuttle service.
If shuttle service is not available, then you can ride public buses or opt to grab a taxi to the hotel. Our taxi ride cost us 45 MOP.
Upon arrival at the hotel, you will see the reception area at your right. You need to show the front desk your booking confirmation and passport. The check in is very quick and easy. The front desk provide me with “passport” as they call it but it is just your pass for your breakfast and discounts to other amenities.
We booked a deluxe room that is good for 4 people with 2 queen sized beds.
The room is very spacious. It has a closet, safety box, an iPhone dock that is also a charger and alarm clock, desk where you can connect your laptop to the internet and TV. They have two types of pillow which are soft and firm pillows. The bed is very relaxing.
The bathroom has a separate shower area and bathtub. There are also bathrobes, towels and slippers.
Holiday Inn has great amenities. At the fourth floor it has a Gym and a Pool. The Gym and Pool opens at 7:00 AM until 10:00 PM. We did not try the gym since we only have a little time. We went directly to the pool area.
Upon entering the pool area, the staff will provide you with a locker key. You just need to write your name and room number on the log book.
They have different size of pools, they have Jacuzzi with warm water and a pool with water falls.
The changing room and shower room is very clean.During our visit I am the only one using the female shower room.
It has all the necessary things you need. The locker is spacious and clean. They have a swimsuit dryer, cotton buds, comb, cotton and towels. They also provide shampoo, conditioner and bath soap.
The breakfast restaurant for Holiday Inn is called “Grand Orbit” and it is located at the ground floor, in front of McDonald’s.
Upon arrival, you just need to show your “passport” the pass given by the reception upon check in. The staff will assist you on your table.
There restaurant is very grand and there are huge number of selection of foods. Good thing that we are already starving.
My personal favorite is the pastry area, they have a lot of different pastries and they even have the famous egg tarts there.
They have Congee or “lugaw” with different toppings to choose from, noodles, meat area and Sushi and Maki. There are cold drinks area which has fruit juices and milk but you can also request for a hot coffee or hot tea.
This hotel is ideal for families as well, they provide free stay for kids age 12 years and below and “kids eat for free” in this hotel too. I will definitely bring my family here when we visit Macau.
Stay tune for my next blog as we visit the Ruins of St. Paul in Macau.
